Gateway to the Gulf

Boca Ciega Yacht Club (BCYC) is the most exciting, friendly and "cruisingest" sail club in Florida. Located on beautiful Boca Ciega Bay in Gulfport, a quaint waterfront village adjacent to St. Petersburg and South Pasadena, BCYC is a scant four miles from the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This offers sailors easy access to west Florida's best cruising destinations as well as fabulous sailing on the protected waters of the Bay. We invite to learn more about the many benefits of membership that our members enjoy year-round at BCYC.

Club Cruises

Monthly cruises in company with other boats to beautiful, interesting, and fun destinations along the Suncoast and Tampa Bay are the most highly anticipated events.

Club Racing

Weekly small-boat races featuring Sunfish Fleet 756 and club Capri 16's are on Tuesday evenings during DST, and Saturday afternoons during standard time. Monthly weekend PHRF / Portsmouth / Sunfish races are year-round. BCYC racers have won PHRF BOTY, Isla Mujeres, and Key West races.The BCYC Racing Motto is Sail hard, Sail friendly, the BCYC way.

Dinners and Parties

BCYC Members enjoy social activities throughout the year. Every month BCYC hosts a free "covered-dish" dinner with members contributing salads, side dishes, and desserts. There are also numerous special-occasion dinners such as Thanksgiving that always attracts a crowd. It's a great way to get to know each other and merge with the BCYC family of sailors.

Parties? Oh yes, there are parties ~ birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, post-race celebrations, and much more. The clubhouse is also available for members' parties by reservation that include the hall, kitchen, grills, and use of the patio. BCYC's annual Summer's-end Raft-up on Labor Day is a much anticipated boating family gathering.

Youth Activities

We are honored to be the home for the Sea Scouts Ship 915, a very active and successful training and development organization for young men and women in a marine environment. Having won many regional and national awards of excellence, it has a record of guiding boys and girls to become responsible adults. Their Irwin 30 sails out of BCYC.

Youth Sailing

BCYC is committed to providing sailing education for youngsters 8 to 13 so they will become the winners and teachers of the sport in the next generation.

Sail School

BCYC is known statewide for its Sailing School and its high standards of seamanship, safety, equipment and teaching. Two sessions are held each year with 20 students in each session. The training boats are self righting and lively Capri 16.5s.

Club Boats

BCYC maintains a fleet of boats for the free use of members between sunrise and sunset, weather permitting, that include Catalina Capri 16.5s. Optimist Prams and Sunfish. Members who don't own boats are never lacking opportunities to sail.

BCYC Clubhouse and Grounds

The BCYC clubhouse is accessible to members 24 hours per day and includes showers, use of the large kitchen, outdoor grills, cable TV, refrigerator food storage, club computer, workshop, and several outdoor patios. Unlimited ice is free to all members.

Dockage & Trailer Slips

Via the Gulfport Municipal Marina, there are over 50 wet slips are available for boats up to 35 feet and/or a five-foot draft. Protected from heavy weather by substantial jetties, newer docks and pilings provide maximum safety with easy access to Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf. 24-hour video surveillance and electronic locking gate ensure security.

Ample space is available for trailer-able boats with ramp launching only yards away without the need to lower the mast.

Dry Storage for Paddle Sports

BCYC provides canoes, kayaks, windsurfers, and paddle-boards for members to use. Storage for personal equipment is also available.
