Visiting Gulfport
-
![]() Visiting GulfportBoca Ciega Yacht Club is situated in Gulfport, FL, a quaint jewel of a town nestled along the shores of Boca Ciega Bay. Although surrounded by the larger city of St Petersburg (“our largest suburb”), Gulfport retains the picturesque Old-Florida charm that has disappeared elsewhere in the Tampa Bay area. Best known for its thriving art and restaurant scene, Gulfport enjoys its reputation of being a little bit weirder than the average town. Gulfport celebrates this diversity in a number of festivals and events throughout the year. The first Friday and third Saturday of each month are the occasions for “Art Walk”, a celebration of street vendors, artists, craftsmen and performers that extends along the sidewalks, from the beach down the boulevard, past the many small independent shops and restaurants that make Gulfport such a popular tourist destination. Tuesday mornings feature Gulfport’s Fresh Market, where you can shop for local produce, crafts, and home-made food while enjoying live entertainment year-round. Annual Festivals include the pet-inspired Get Rescued in Gulfport, Spring Fest, Fourth of July Celebration and Gecko Fest, giving visitors something to look forward to each season of the year. Our favorite event is our annual Lighted Christmas Boat Parade. Cultural venues include the Catherine Hickman Theater and The Gulfport Casino Ballroom on the waterfront. Gulfport is a haven for nature as well. Stroll along the beach watching the shore birds overhead, or wander the paths and byways of Clam Bayou Nature Preserve. Watch the fishermen at the end of the pier or enjoy a quiet bench in one of the beautiful parks. So whether you want to explore tropical scenery, kick back on a breezy restaurant veranda watching the sailboats in the bay, shop for unique gifts and artwork, experience fine dining, or dance the night away, there’s always something to do in Gulfport! |
