Hootenanny start time is now 7PM on Dec 31st!!!

Preparations for the New Years Hootenanny and Galactically Renowned Cooler Drop are well under way.

Lucky you: there are going to be two acts; because we just can't fit it all into one!

We have more music than we can present in one evening; so we are changing the start time to 7PM

Now, you can get there any time you want but if you are not there at 7 you are going to MISS OUT on some great sounds.  And 7PM is long after dark; so why not?

The first act will feature the awesome musical talents of Noah Broe, John Alonso, Jeff Grossman and John McCleod.

Then make sure you've got your dancing shoes on because the Scallywags have added new songs, and been practicing weekly for over a year and the sound is getting pretty tight. The Scallywags are Guy O'Connor, Mike Livers, Frank Downward, John McCleod, Ricci Honour, our fabulous new drummer directly out of Fall Sail School Al Sosa, and myself. And rumor has it we may be lucky enough to hear special guest star singer Suzanne Furlani.  We have been having tons of fun at our practice sessions (mixed in with a lot of work,) and the result is some fun fun music. To put it bluntly, we are going to ROCK YOU!  So be rested; and get ready to BOOGIE DOWN.

Additional thanks go out in advance to Steve Butcher for managing the GRCD, Galactically Renowned Cooler Drop.  If Steve asks you to assist, please do what you can. He will assemble a team to make sure everyone gets champagne for the New Years Toast and to decorate the cooler.

A nap that day might be in order; because the music is going on after the Cooler Drop.  That's when we kick back and play whatever we feel like playing with whomever wants to start a song.  Just for the fun of it!  We'll need the fire-stokers to keep the spirit going as long as we can.  This is our special BCYC rite of passage to finish off the 2015 in smiling style and start off the new year in the middle of an awesome party. All of your great BCYC friends are going to be there.  You'll want to be a part of it as we affirm and establish our bonds of membership for 2016 from the very moment the new year begins.  We know we've got something really special in BCYC and this is how we prove it and start if off right for a great 2016.

As always, this is a total BYO party.  Bring your own food, maybe some to share, bring your own beverages.  Coolers are welcome and encouraged.  Make a plan to either get home safely or better yet, stay aboard so you don't have to go anywhere.  And PLEASE PICK UP TRASH wherever you see it.  We know you are going to take care of your own trash but hey. If your taking your own stuff out and see something somebody else dropped, just grab it and add it to the pile.  There's plenty of music to go the whole night so don't worry about missing anything while you take a break to clean up as you go.  If you see a trash can is full and you've got a moment, please do take the initiative and just take it on out to the bins by the gate and dump it. Your friends will see you helping out and your cred value will rise but most importantly you become a part of the BCYC spirit by doing things like that. We look out for each other and we look out for our place. Thanks in advance for being so freaking cool!  I LOVE this club! You rock. And we are going to rock YOU!

Also, there will be a tip jar up near the band.  This is not for us.  We are collecting donations for MEALS ON WHEELS. Please be generous and help out in BCYC style. This goes toward a great cause, helping to feed and provide transportation services for elderly shut-ins.  Meals on Wheels is now a nation wide program which began right here in St Petersburg.

All donations will be added to the total for Shady Lady's entry into the St Petersburg Classic (Good Old Boat) Regatta on January 9th, 2016.  BCYC has completely eclipsed the giving of others by supporting Shady Lady's entry and we have amazingly, through your gracious generosity, now won the Good Neighbor Award for the most funds raised of all regatta entries for FIVE YEARS RUNNING

And another less known feat is that Shady Lady and BCYC are the only ones to ever win that prestigious award!!! It's a lock! They might think of us as a renegade partying club, not a serious yacht club like SPYC, but despite being alongside boats costing way more than Shady Lady, and in the presence of some super-rich people it is us.  We are the ones to come in there and take them by storm and show what fine benevolent spirit we have by putting our name on that trophy in their club and leaving room for no other names.  At all. Year after year. I can not tell you how touched I am by this.

All I can say is I love this club; and you are the reason why.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. And know that the real thanks comes in spirit from those who benefit from the good we do.

They say what goes around comes around and I believe it.  It seems like the more good we do, the more good comes our way.  So dig deep and fill that Meals On Wheels tip jar.  You rock.

Don't forget, the start time is now 7PM.

See you there!

~big smile~
