Rain Check Cruise - Anchoring at DeSoto Point
We got so much bad/rainy weather this year, we had to cancel three (3!) cruises.
We can't accept losing all those cruising opportunities, so we are adding in another 'rain check' cruise.
After a vote was taken at the Chili Cookoff cruise at Terra Ceia, it was decided we will go to Desoto Point, one of our favorite anchorages, but weather will tell where we anchor/go ashore. Either way, bring a dish to share on the boats and a dinghy to go ashore If you have one.
And yes, there will be a costume contest!
AND - big news since the October general meeting -we will also have a fishing "race" on the way over (since there's no Mack N' Gnaw this year). The kings are running, so catch as many LEGAL Spanish mackerel or King mackerel as you can and the winner will win...ummm....something! If you don't want to keep the fish on board, you can catch & release. But take pictures.
Here are our onshore and anchoring choices. We can vote on where to go at the captains meeting:
On Shore:
1. DeSoto National Memorial (south shore) http://www.nps.gov/deso/index.htm
2. Emerson Point Preserve (north shore) https://www.mymanatee.org/home/government/departments/parks-and-recreation/natural-resources/preserves/emerson-point.html
Anchorages:
1. DeSoto Point Anchorage (south shore)
