Rhumb Runners has invited Linda Petrat, author of


 A Great Adventure on a Good Little Boat


  to come and speak!


This is a free event - no registration is necessary!


Inviting everyone to come at 6:30 and hear Ms. Petrat speak about her 3-month single-handed trip from Maine to Sarasota on her Pearson 22, during which she experienced gale force winds, high seas, spectacular sunsets, and life-changing moments.  


Author Bio

Linda Petrat lived and worked in New England for over 40 years before her recent move to Florida, where she currently lives aboard a boat in Sarasota. She spent many years building and restoring unique homes in New Hampshire and Maine.

As a kid, Linda spent many years living and sailing aboard her family’s
wooden schooner in the Exuma Islands. She has always kept one foot on the water; whenever time permits, Linda can be found sailing in Sarasota Bay on her Pearson Ensign, the Summer Wind. For years Linda enjoyed racing in the Key West Race Week aboard her brother’s 48-foot Swan.

Linda has also had the opportunity to sail on several “tall ships,” including
traveling through the Panama Canal aboard the topsail schooner the Lynx Linda’s first book, A Great Big Adventure on a Good Little Boat was published in July of 2013 It is a story about her voyage on her good little boat from Kittery, Maine, to her new home in Sarasota. Linda sailed solo for all but the first week of her adventure, and her trip took her three months.

She experienced gale-force winds, high seas, spectacular sunsets, and life-
changing moments. Linda spends her time giving sailing lessons and working on a variety of boats as a licensed captain.
