St. Petersburg Classic Regatta

A Benefit for “Meals on Wheels” and a great weekend of sailing fun and camaraderie.

If you are only going to attend one regatta this year, this is it.  This is the regatta for the rest of us!

Organized under the authority of the St. Petersburg Sailing Association (SPSA), Raymarine presents the 6^th Annual St. Petersburg Classic Regatta on Jan. 17, 2015.  The NOR and entry form are attached and are posted on the website ( www.stpetersburgclassicregatta.com) as well as contacts and additional information; online registration is available. The St. Petersburg Yacht Club is co-hosting the regatta and will provide free dockage to all participants.

This regatta is especially designed to showcase older classic boats - by rule, boats must be at least 20 years old to compete;  entry is restricted to boats built before 1995.  While sail boat racing is always spirited, this event is known more for its fun, camaraderie and generosity.  More than just a sailing event, the St. Petersburg Classic Regatta is a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels, an admirable cause that provides nutritious, hot meals to low income elderly folks who would otherwise go without.  Through this event, sailors and sponsors generously open their hearts and their wallets; last year they raised $10,500 for Meals on Wheels.

Known for excellent organization, this weekend long event places emphasis on fun and charity.  A classic boat rendezvous that attracts boats and sailors from the entire west coast of Florida; it has become one of the premier regattas in Tampa Bay.  The regatta is based out of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC) located on the beautiful waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg.  SPYC provides free dockage and is the host for exceptional dock parties and an excellent dinner and awards banquet.
